Consortium iPSpine in Nantes
On Jan. 29th and 30th, the consortium iPSpine (Induced pluripotent stem cell-based therapy for spinal regeneration) meeting was held in Nantes (Passage Ste Croix) and organized by RMeS team. This 5-year project falls under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme to fund research that improves knowledge, testing, and exploitation platforms that address the future of advanced therapies in Europe. The project is coordinated by Professor Marianna Tryfonidou at Utrecht University.
The next DEVSTEM meeting took place on Oct 6, 2020 at 10.00 am in the School of dental Surgery (Amphi Ricordeau). Presentations of Nathan PROVIN & Bastien CIMAROSTI

OVERbone
The REGOS team of the Inserm U1229-RMeS laboratory is pleased to announce the recent funding of the OVERbone proposal as an ANR collaborative research project. OVERbone will be coordinated by Valérie Geoffroy and Angélique Galvani (Inserm U1229, RMeS) and will be carried out with Pierre Weiss (Inserm U1229, RMeS) and in collaboration with Patricia Abellan and Jean Le Bideau (IMN, CNRS U6502). OVERbone aims to investigate a novel mechanism of bone formation based on extracellular vesicles (EVs) secreted by bone cells, that could be used as therapy for bone regeneration. In addition, OVERbone will demonstrate that these EVs are altered during aging either in quantity or in quality and that this alteration contributes to bone aging.
Launching of the second transversal Inserm program dedicated to Aging (AGEMED 2.0)
The STEP Team is happy to announce that the second transversal Inserm program dedicated to Aging (AGEMED 2.0) will receive a 1.5 M€ grant for the next three years. This research program, coordinated by Eric Gilson (Nice), gathers 11 Research teams from Paris, 2 from Marseille and Grenoble and 1 from Montpellier and Nantes (RMeS STEP team, J.Guicheux and C. Vinatier). The long-term vision of this Inserm program on aging is to ameliorate age-related disorders, improving overall healthspan and reducing public health costs. AGEMED 2.0 will be organized around two main axis. The first axis aims at deciphering the cell senescence code to improve healthspan in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and osteoarthritis. The second axis deals with integrated approaches to prevent and treat neuroaging disorders in various pre-clinical models. RMeS will receive a financial support for three years to test the efficacy of senolytic compounds in several murine models of osteoarthritis.
Launching of the INSERM French network : NetwOArk
RMES is happy to announce the launching of the INSERM French network dedicated to peripheral and spine osteoarthritis : NetwOArk. Jerome Guicheux will serve NetwOArk as national coordinator with Francis Berenbaum as a co-coordinator. NetwOArk aims bringing together all the scientific actors involved in osteoarthritis research in order to federate and promote the emergence of high-level scientific works in this field. NetwOArk is created for 4 years and is supported by INSERM, Aviesan and ITMO PMN. NetwOArk is organized around 4 work packages coordinated by Claire Vinatier and Esther Potier (WP 1 pathophysiology), Khorng Ea and Yves-Marie Pers (WP2 disease bio markers), Christelle N’Guyen and Jeremy Sellam (WP3 prevention and treatment) and David Moulin and Emeline Perrier-Groult (WP4 innovation). A first scientific event will be organized in 2020 to gather the French actors involved in Osteoarthritis research. We hope to meet you all to share recent advances in basic, translational and clinical research dedicated to this incurable and disabling disease.
New funding of BIOREGATE
The STEP team (UMR 1229 INSERM-Nantes University-ONIRIS) is pleased to announce that the project DISCODOG was awarded of BIOREGATE (Région Pays de la Loire) grant (veterinary clinic grant). The project is led by Johann CLOUET and Marion FUSELLIER. This project will be performed in collaboration with the MINT laboratory (INSERM 1066 CNRS 6021) in Angers (Elise LEPELTIER).The two objectives of DISCODOG are to develop a new therapeutic tool to treat discogenic lumbalgia, consisting in miRNA encapsulated in lipid nanocapsules and to validate a new method to detect early signs of disc degeneration in canine patients. After intradiscal injection in clinic dogs, security and efficacy of the treatment will be followed by the mean of orthopedic and neurologic examination as well as by MRI, during 6 months. 120 k€ will be dedicated to the DISCODOG project during 2 years. The project will begin during the first semester of 2020..
